Ayurvedic Yoga Massage

Ayurvedic Yoga Massage (AYM) combines traditional Indian deep-tissue oil massage and assisted yoga-based stretching therapy. The original method of AYM was developed in the early 1980s in Pune, India, by Master Kusum Modak. A female student of Yoga Guru BKS Iyengar, Kusum brings together the essence of Iyengar Yoga practice, along with her personal experience in Ayurvedic Massage gained from her teacher Master Lamaye Maharaj, an expert in the art of therapeutic massage.

A session of Ayurvedic Yoga Massage is given on a mattress on the floor and both hands and feet are used for 90 minute massage. The treatment involves alternation between deep tissue massage and a series of assisted stretches. AYM also utilizes plant based oils (nut or seed) and medicinal herbal powders. The scrubbing and stimulating feeling of the powder infused oil awakens the skin and improves circulation. Therapeutic stretches, mobilisations and other healing techniques are applied according to the clients’ needs. Ayurvedic Yoga Massage is the perfect complement to any cleanse, detox or fast; leaving the recipient with a deep sense of well-being.
